CCM PRESENTS: TRUE DEMOCRACY

Logically, the more people of a Nation that vote, the closer that Nation gets to being a true democracy.  The result of that vote would represent the voice of the majority of the people of that Nation.  If the majority of people do not vote, perhaps because most people have to work harder and more hours just to make the same amount of money, which causes time to be a factor along with the lack of enthusiasm, then the Nation is being run by the few who do vote.  Those few people who vote regularly are usually in the upper echelons of the economic ladder, and not only do they vote, but they u

BROWN AND BLACK VOTING BLOC

Villa’s short-story book, “I Voted For Him Because He’s Black”, spells out how it wasn’t a “brother” whose school system kicked him out for speaking, looking and acting Mexican, it wasn’t a “brother” whose police force provoked negative reactions and it wasn’t soul-food restaraunts that had signs that said “no dogs, no Mexicans.” It was in fact Mexicans, before there was an official Texas, that fought a War because Texans were using “brothers” as slaves. Yet there has been bad blood at times between the races.

COURT SUSPICIOUS THAT TEXAS GOP REDISTRICTING DONE TO DIVIDE CHICANO VOTE

Texas Republicans have been dragged to Court over their redrawing of Texas’ Election Districts, a case in which they are accused of drawing these election districts specifically to divide the massive number of new Chicano voters, which of course they refer to as Hispanic or Latino

COMPULSORY VOTING IN THE U.S.

CCM doesn’t care who you vote for as long as you get informed in a balanced way and vote.  We believe there should be a compulsory voting law, much like compulsory jury service, which by the way takes much longer.  We don’t think the penalties for not going to vote should be harsh, especially on first offenses, but repeat offenders maybe should face small fines or the loss of their voting privilege.  It’s a shame that our voting numbers are so low that we feel that this is even necessary, but who can blame the people that don’t vote, after all day after day you hear how the entire political

THE 2012 PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION

The next Presidential election being held in 2012, appears to be the latest-starting Presidential election in a very long time. Memory of the most recent past elections seemed to have begun well before this point in time. At the time this article was being written, only one candidate on the Republican side had formally announced and his name is Gary Johnson. Prior to his formal announcement, very little if any, mention of this now candidate for President had been made.

LOW VOTING NUMBERS AND DROPPING OUT

CHICANOS OWN TWO DUBIOUS TITLES THAT HAVE TO BE WORKED ON AS SOON AS POSSIBLE: WE VOTE IN LESS NUMBERS PROPORTIONATELY THAN ANY OTHER RAZA IN THE U.S. AND WE DROP OUT IN BIGGER NUMBERS THAN ANY OTHER RAZA. WHATS WRONG WITH THAT PICTURE? BIG NUMBERS IN DROP OUTS AND LOW NUMBERS IN THE POLLS WILL NOT TRANSLATE INTO THE POLITICAL AND ECONOMIC POWER THAT THE FUTURE COULD HOLD FOR CHICANOS. THE DROP OUT RATE AFFECTS EVERY ASPECT OF LIFE.

Our Collective Voting Power

Quick question my fellow Chicanos. Is it safe to assume that Rick Perry's accusations of immigrants being criminals are to get him the "white" vote only? Is it also safe to assume that the Tea Party is doing the same thing by running ads of our Mexican brothers running through fences, at night, making them look like Halloween figures? Here at CCM, we believe that every vote counts, especially when a Chicano votes for you. Don't politicians understand our loyalty? If not, they soon will!
