Chicanos

The other day on some channel, they showed some dudes from England, I think, whose job it was to go to places that sell vacuum cleaners, brooms, and all kinds of other household products.  Basically they go to these stores and check out what is on the shelf and what people are buying, then they go home, smoke a bowl and brainstorm on how they could improve on those products that are on the shelves at stores.  All of this is correct except the bowl part, although it could be. 

A very popular misconception in Texas is that after six (6) months of living together, a man and a woman could be considered Common-Law married, wrong.  There is no time limit that determines whether or not you will be considered Common-Law married.  There are many factors that can allow a judge to issue that finding though.  The most important of those in Texas is what is referred to as “holding out”, which refers to how you introduce your significant other to family, friends and others.  For example, “What’s up man, let me introduce you to my wife”, as you join a birthday party at a resta

A Chicano is a Mexican-American who generally was pressured by the Anglo-run school system and most other official governmental entities, to abandon Spanish as a language, even though many Chicanos barely spoke it and also pressured to generally assimilate into the Anglo culture. It worked to a large degree and those who accepted complete assimilation also accepted being called Hispanic or Latino, instead of Chicano, which had connotations and connections to Civil Rights movements back in the day and to those who refused to completely assimilate.

Chicano, Anglo and African-American cultures will never be fully integrated, they never have and they never will.  Schools have taken steps over the years to integrate and the attempt to have the cultures learn together and perhaps even more equally so must be applauded.  School integration has most assuredly had an impact on race relations and perhaps even on the equality of the quality of education, although schools now, especially in Texas under Gov.

It appears that San Antonio is set to send another Chicano to Washington who hails from a fine family that no doubt instilled great family values, that while not unique to us, nor possessed by all of us, are general Mexican-American cultural traits that CCM believes make a good leader even better. Rep. Joaquin Castro announced this past Saturday that he is seeking Charlie Gonzalez’ U.S. House seat, which the latter announced on the same day he would not be seeking re-election for. Of course this U.S. House seat belonged to Henry B.

Maybe it’s just our Chicano pride in seeing one of our own rising to the top and doing so in the most classy way, but during the American Music Awards of last night, November 20, 2011, among all of the beautiful and talented women there, Selena Gomez just seemed to shine the brightest.  Part of the sentiment that goes with Selena Gomez is the fact that she was named after another child prodigy singing star, Selena Quintanilla, which is not to take away at all from her natural god-given talent, because she could be of any race and named whatever and we believe she would still succeed.

Deregulate credit cards and let them charge the interest rates they want put in all the small print they want, what the hell I just won’t use their cards. Get rid of the EPA and let the polluting companies do what they do, I can always move to a State that has no mining or Industry that dumps into rivers or lakes. I would say that their kids would have to inhale the same toxic shit that we would have to, but that may not be true especially for the kids of the execs of these companies because they would live wherever they want.

No no we have been ridiculous all along señorita, ridiculously on the side of the fact that when Mr. O came in to office, GM, Ford, Banks, Insurance companies were on edge of extinction, remember all the banks that used to exist and now only a handful. Remember the late Goldman Sachs? Rest in Peace! Now GM is handing out bonuses to the thousands of employees they were allowed to keep cuz of stimulus and other big business is flush with cash that they are holding on to like many individuals are. You don't dig out of a depression by just being a good looking smart brother.
