CCM PRESENTS: TRUE DEMOCRACY

Logically, the more people of a Nation that vote, the closer that Nation gets to being a true democracy. The result of that vote would represent the voice of the majority of the people of that Nation. If the majority of people do not vote, perhaps because most people have to work harder and more hours just to make the same amount of money, which causes time to be a factor along with the lack of enthusiasm, then the Nation is being run by the few who do vote. Those few people who vote regularly are usually in the upper echelons of the economic ladder, and not only do they vote, but they use their money and extra time to convince others to think and vote like them, even when their interests are diametrically opposed.
The election of a black man as President of the United States, reminded the “few”, that too much democracy, excitement and populism, could wrest power from their hands. They began to gripe very publicly that President Obama was a Socialist. What does a Socialist leader do? For one, he or she would probably support laws that increase wages for workers, mandate health insurance coverage for workers and generally put policies in place that attempt to level the playing field a little bit between workers and the people that have been used to having it their way for a long time. Not only did they gripe, but they began to help pass laws mandating specific types of IDs in order to vote, making registration to vote more difficult, limiting organizations that exist to register voters, limiting the days that people that can vote and many more such anti-democracy initiatives.
Making voting mandatory, much like attending the jury selection process of the County that you live in is, along with a federal law mandating that regardless of what day an election falls on, that at least one Saturday prior to that is open for voting, would turn the USA into what the rest of the World thought we had all along, a true Democracy. Regular people would be in charge, people who unlike the “few” do not worship money, but instead desire simply to earn a good wage with good benefits and to have the time and dignity to see their kids grow, prosper and have the same opportunities as those of the “few”. Regular people who will have more money in their pocket and time to spend it, which makes the “few” wealthier and the Nation’s economy prosper.
