CHICANO CHANNEL PRESENTS: THE STATE OF THE WORLD 1

Too often, and nobody can blame us, we get caught up in the daily game of life and pay little or no attention to events around the World.  These events can sneak up on us though, like 9/11 did, and change our lives forever.  So we have to keep an eye on foreign events, know as much as possible about it so that in case it affects the U.S., we are as prepared as we can be.

When the “Arab Spring” started, which led to the assassination of Ghadaffy from Libya, the ousting of Mubarek from Egypt and changes to most governments in that region, the same thing occurred in other countries there as well, like Saudi Arabia and Syria.  The Saudis, what with their vast wealth as a Nation, simply raised the standard of living for everyone and took steps to make the daily lives of regular people a little better, which appears to have quelled, for the most part, any rebellion. 

Syria on the hand has been using an “iron-fist” on its rebels for over a year now and basically just trying to wipe out the opposition, to date unsuccessfully.  In fact, the rebel leaders and the government have been involved in “peace” talks, yet while they talk, people are being killed.  Syrian troops even fired on a refugee camp on the Turkish side of the border, creating a potential conflict between the two countries.  Taking out the leaders of Syria is not doable like it was in Libya because they have friends in high places on the U.N. Security Council.

North Korea had been begging for food aid, with few Nations responding, so the next thing they do is come out and say they are testing long range missiles and sending new satellites into space.  Many Nations then responded, even China and Russia, who usually back North Korea, condemning their recent moves.  Some of the missiles they have are believed to have the range to hit the U.S.  Finally, for now, we can never fix Afghanistan and its tribal ways.  They don’t see themselves as Afghanis, instead as whatever tribe they belong to.  That wasn’t our mission anyway, it was Al-Qaeda and Bin Laden, who’s been gotten.
