PREVIEW OF DECEMBER CCM ARTICLE: QUELLING MUSLIM, CHRISTIAN WARS

Since the beginning of man, much blood has been spilled in the name of God or Allah, depending on whichever side of the Christian, Muslim religion you belong to, respectively. One of our favorite movies here at CCM is Kingdom of Heaven (2005), starring Orlando Bloom, which shows the absurdity, even thousands of years ago, of spilling even one drop of blood simply because of the faith of an individual or group. Since then enough of this senseless blood has been spilled to probably fill a good sized lake and it is highly doubtful that blame belongs solely to one group or the other. Regardless, the Obama election has done much to diffuse this age-old hatred, at least for the short-term, in spite of the fact that most of the more extreme Muslim leaders have denounced Obama’s overtures for A New Beginning, the actual title of the speech he gave in Cairo Egypt in June of 2009 that many credit with Iran’s near-crumble and the Muslim Awakening movement. Is it possible that for people of faith, God, Allah or whatever your deity’s name, got tired of blood being spilled in his/her name and sent a dark-skinned man, with an Arabic-sounding name, accused of being a Muslim himself, to lead the most-powerful Christian Nation in the World and to perhaps avoid annihilation over religion?
